Steve Levy is an American journalist and sportscaster working for ESPN. He is known for his work broadcasting the National Hockey League, Monday Night Football, and college football.
Levy joined ESPN on August 1, 1993. He works on SportsCenter as a reporter and has hosted the late-night version during the NFL season on Monday night, following Monday Night Football.
Steve broadcasted the NHL regular season and playoff games before the network lost the rights to televise the league’s games. From 1999 to 2002, he also covered ESPN’s college football coverage for four seasons returning to this role in 2016.
He was also the fill-in play-by-play commentator for Wednesday Night Baseball and worked as ESPN’s lead play-by-play announcer for the XFL in 2020. Levy was nicknamed “Mr. Extra Period” for having broadcasted three of the longest televised games in NHL history.
Levy called Monday Night Football matchups in week 1 on ESPN alongside Brian Griese. He became a primary crew for Monday Night Football in 2020.
