Lisa McRee is an American journalist, news anchor, and reporter who currently works at Spectrum News Channel 1 as a 7 pm news anchor. The Emmy Award-Winning journalist formerly worked at Good Morning America as an anchor, replacing Joan Lunden.
McRee worked as a news anchor for WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, from 1989 to 1991 before joining ABC News’ World News Now as one of the show’s first anchors in 1992, alongside Aaron Brown. In 1993, McRee departed the show to become a host on Good Morning America (GMA) Sunday. In 1994, she relocated to Los Angeles, California, to serve as a news anchor for KABC-TV.
She took over as co-anchor of Good Morning America from Joan Lunden in 1997. After Charles Gibson departed the program in 1998, she was matched with Kevin Newman. Good Morning America, on the other hand, which had been performing poorly in the ratings, continued to do so. In 1999, she and Newman were both replaced and reassigned to other roles at ABC News.
In 2011, McRee launched a new project called “The Skinny,” which promotes healthy eating and weight loss. It began as a website, but McRee told Super-Hair.Net that she aims to develop it into a television show and a book.
