Lisa Ling is a journalist, television personality, and author from the United States. She is currently the host of CNN’s This Is Life with Lisa Ling. She previously worked as a Channel One News reporter, a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show The View, the host of National Geographic Explorer, and a special correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Ling immerses herself in communities across America in each episode, giving viewers an inside look at some of society’s most unusual segments. The series received a Gracie Award in 2017. Ling also hosts the CNN Digital shows This is Sex with Lisa Ling and This is Birth with Lisa Ling.
Ling recently signed a multi-year deal with HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service. The first project she has been given the green light for is a travel docuseries called Birth, Wedding, Funeral, which she will executive produce alongside Dan Rather.
Ling began her career in journalism at the age of 21 as a correspondent for Channel One News, where she covered the Afghan civil war. She went on to co-host ABC Daytime’s hit show The View, which won its first daytime Emmy during her tenure there. Ling was also a special correspondent for CNN’s Planet in Peril.
