 Kirsty Wark is a Scottish television presenter with a long career who  currently works for the BBC. She started off as a producer for Radio Scotland before moving to television and hosting The Late Show and Newsnight. She also established a production firm and hosted her own interview program.

In 1976, She worked at BBC Radio Scotland before joining BBC television. In 1982, she made the transition to television and began producing Current Account, Reporting Scotland, and the lunchtime political show Agenda. She  then made the transition to hosting, fronting BBC Scotland’s coverage of Reporting Scotland, Seven Days, Left, Right and Centre, and Scottish Questions.

BAFTA Scotland honored Kirsty with the journalist of the year award in 1993 and the Best Television Presenter award in 1997. In the 2000 BAFTAS, she was also a finalist for the renowned Richard Dimbleby Award for Best Television Presenter. In addition, The Guardian named Kirsty one of the fifty best-dressed people over 50 in March 2013.

In March 2017, she was chosen as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Later, she joined the Breakfast Time presenting crew on network television. She took part in the Celebrity MasterChef 2011 season, making it to the finals where she lost to Phil Vickery by a razor-thin margin.

Alongside Huw Edwards, She served as one of the primary presenters for the BBC’s coverage of the 2021 elections. She delivered the program from Edinburgh, including results from the English local council elections and the Scottish Parliament election that were held on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

She had a sibling named Alan. She went to primary school at Kilmarnock Grammar. Kirsty afterwards enrolled in the independent Wellington School in Ayr. At the University of Edinburgh, she majored in Scottish Studies and history. Before being promoted to producer of Good Morning Scotland and current affairs programs a year later, she joined the BBC in 1976 as a graduate researcher for BBC Radio Scotland.

In 1990, Kirsty and Alan created the independent TV production business Wark-Clements, which in May 2004 amalgamated with the Ideal World broadcasting company of fellow Scots broadcaster Muriel Gray to form IWC Media. Kirsty and Gray dissolved their ties to IWC Media in December 2005 after RDF Media acquired the business.
