Chi Chi Izundu is an English radio journalist currently working as a news and entertainment reporter for BBC News based in London, UK. Izundu started her career in 1997 as a columnist for Girl About Town Magazine.
Izundu began working with BBC News in September 2005. While at BBC Radio 1Xtra, she hosted TXU, a two-hour news magazine program, and was the entertainment host of the Trevor Nelson breakfast program.
She later joined BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat entertainment reporting unit, where she broke a series of major scoops, including a week-long investigation into the ticketing market, which helped Newsbeat win a Sony Gold award.
In 2014, she was appointed as one of BBC Three’s 60 Seconds News presenters, who deliver the evening news on BBC Three television. She then worked as a correspondent for the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire Show.
In addition to breaking the story on the contentious police risk assessment form 696, Chi revealed the link between Grime music and gang violence in the UK, as well as how Robbie Williams’ management was charging fans higher prices for tickets on resale sites despite previously signing a public notice against them.
Chi has also worked for the BBC Newsgathering team, serving as a Correspondent on a variety of stories for their flagship news programs, the Six and Ten o’clock evening news, including traveling to Jamaica to cover the Windrush scandal, how Xanax was being used by children as young as 11, and the Mercury Prize winners.
