Chris Tomlin Biography
Chris Tomlin is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, and worship leader. He is a member of Passion Conferences and is signed under EMI’s sixstepsrecords.
Tomlin has 23 GMA Dove Awards, a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for his 2012 album And If Our God Is for Us, and two RIAA-certified platinum albums to his credit.
In the year 2000, Tomlin inked a deal with sixstepsrecords, which is affiliated with Passion Conferences. His debut nationally recognized solo album, titled “The Noise We Make,” made its debut in 2001 and featured the hit track “Forever.” Following that, in 2002, he unveiled both the live EP “545” and his second studio album, “Not to Us.”
Since joining forces with sixstepsrecords, Tomlin has gone on to release a total of nine full-length studio albums. “Arriving” made history as his first album to secure a spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Albums chart, as well as the prestigious Billboard 200. Tomlin boasts an impressive six Hot Christian Albums chart-toppers, with his 2013 release, “Burning Lights,” becoming the fourth contemporary Christian album to reach the summit of the Billboard 200.
In addition to his albums, Tomlin has actively participated in numerous conferences and festivals, leaving a mark at events such as the Grand Saline Salt Festival in Texas, Hillsong’s 2007 conference, and the SoCal Harvest in Anaheim. Furthermore, his rendition of “Indescribable” was chosen as the official wake-up call for Mission Specialist Patrick Forrester during the Space Shuttle flight STS-117 on June 14, 2007.
