Savannah Guthrie Biography
Savannah Guthrie is an American journalist working for NBC News as the co-anchor of the Today morning show. She initially served as the correspondent and legal analyst for reporting on trials throughout the country. She also served as the co-anchor of The Daily Rundown on MSNBC from 2010 and 2011.
Savannah began her career in broadcasting with ABC station KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri, where she worked for two years before returning to Tucson and joining NBC affiliate KVOA in 1995. She left Arizona after five years to work for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., where she covered major events like as the Pentagon attack on September 11, 2001, and the anthrax attacks of 2001.
Guthrie chose to return to school after several years as a broadcast journalist, getting a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002, where she earned magna cum laude. She has passed the Arizona Bar Exam with flying colors and is a member of the District of Columbia and Arizona bars. In September 2007, Guthrie started working for NBC News as a journalist.
She reported from Fairbanks, Pittsburgh, San Antonio, Sioux City, Iowa, and Washington on Sarah Palin’s 2008 vice-presidential campaign. She was designated an NBC News White House correspondent on December 18. She was in charge of all NBC News properties in this role. Guthrie is also an NBC News anchor and NBC Nightly News substitute anchor.
In her career, Savannah has interviewed Donald Trump and Conrad Murray after he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.
