Hoda Kotb Biography

Hoda Kotb is an American broadcast journalist, television personality, and author. She works for NBC News as the co-anchor for the Today morning show. She was previously the correspondent for the television news magazine program Dateline NBC. Kotb previously worked for CBS affiliate WWL in New Orleans, Louisiana, and WINK in Fort Myers, Florida.

Kotb began her career as a journalist at WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi. She then joined WQAD in Moline, Illinois as a reporter from 1988 to 1989. Since then Kotb has worked for WINK and later WWL as a reporter and anchor. She officially joined NBC News in  April 1998. She was assigned the role of a correspondent for Dateline NBC and all NBC News platforms.

In 2007, she became the host of Today Show’s first fourth-hour broadcast alongside Kathie Lee Gifford. After Kathie left the show, Jenna Bush Hager replaced her in April 2019. Since January 2019, Kotb has hosted the Today Show alongside Savannah Guthrie.

Her family once lived in Egypt and Nigeria.

She studied at Fort Hunt High School where she was elected homecoming queen. She then joined  Virginia Tech where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta women’s sorority, Beta Nu Chapter. She graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.
