Shade serves as a meteorologist at WEWS-TV News 5. During her time at the station, she has covered numerous severe weather outbreaks in Alabama and Texas. One of his memorable stories includes working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas on December 26th, 2015, where she covered a deadly tornado outbreak that kept her on the air with wall-to-wall severe weather coverage for over 8 hours.

Shade competed in the Miss Alabama Teen USA pageant and also won Miss Florida State University while a senior at Florida State. She then went on to compete in the Miss Florida pageant and performed a jazz dance performance that included a weather forecast at the beginning.

In 2008, she completed the requirements to earn the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society. She considers this one of the highest honors a broadcast meteorologist can attain. She is an AMS CBM Sealholder #294.
