Priscilla Alvarez is a well-known American news journalist currently working as a news reporter covering immigration, politics, and policy for CNN News. Alvarez joined CNN in January 2019.

She began working for CNN in January 2019. Prior to joining CNN, she worked as a political editor and writer at The Atlantic, where she covered the 2016 presidential election, the Trump administration’s early years, and U.S. immigration policy.

Alvarez’s writing has been featured in a number of different media, including the National Journal, where she was a fellow in 2015. She has also made appearances on The Lead with Jake Tapper, CBS This Morning, MSNBC, and NPR.

Alvarez, who speaks Spanish fluently, grew raised in Leesburg, Virginia, and lived briefly in Panama. She attended Virginia Tech and majored in journalism as well as foreign politics and policy.
