Colwin was born and raised in USA by her parents,She tragically lost both of her parents as well as Arthur, one of her brothers. She grew along with other six siblings. She attended New York University where she earned her BA in English. She later proceeded to Brooklyn Law School to earn her JD.

A few years later, She was named managing partner of the New York branch of “Gordon & Rees.” There, she dealt with a range of lawsuits, including class actions, commercial litigation, employment law, product liability, and criminal law.
