Grace Byers is an American actress. She is known in the media industry for starring as Anika Calhoun in the Fox music-industry drama, Empire. She is best known as the wife to actor and Empire costar Trai Byers.
Gealey relocated to New York City from California where she appeared in Off-Broadway productions such as Venus Flytrap: A Femme Noir Mystery and Rent. She appeared in the Chicago productions of The Misanthrope and Tartuffe in 2013.
Gealey was cast as Anika Calhoun in Fox’s musical prime-time drama Empire in 2014, alongside Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. The show premiered on January 7, 2015.
In the 2017 indie thriller Bent, Gealey played Kate, a jazz singer and lounge owner. Gealey published a children’s book titled I Am Enough in 2018, based on her experiences as a child being bullied because her parents were deaf. She wrote it to encourage children to accept and love themselves.
