Coco Gauff is an American tennis player. She has a career-high ranking of No. 69 in the world and is the youngest player in the Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) top 100. Along with fellow countrywoman and adolescent Caty McNally, she has also won two WTA doubles championships.
Gauff was a former junior world number one. When she was 12 years old, she competed in the prestigious Les Petit As 14-and-under tournament in 2016 and advanced to the semifinals. At the age of 13, Gauff started competing on the ITF Junior Circuit, skipping right up to the Grade A and Grade 1 competitions.
Gauff also made history by finishing as the US Open’s youngest girls’ singles finalist. Gauff lost her opening round match at the Australian Open after beginning 2018 with a semifinal finish at the Grade 1 Traralgon Junior International in Australia. Prior to the French Open, where she won her first junior Grand Slam tournament victory, she did not compete in another singles tournament.
