Dr. David Katz Biography
Dr. David Katz is a famous American physician and health journalist known for being the founding director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center which was founded at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut in 1998.
Katz previously worked as a clinical instructor in medicine at Yale University. Katz was previously the associate director for nutrition science at Yale’s Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, where he was appointed in 2005.
Despite the fact that the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center is part of the Yale School of Public Health, Katz has not held an academic appointment at Yale since 2016 and is no longer academically affiliated with the university.
Katz has written over 100 scientific papers as well as newspaper and magazine articles, including a recurring column in O: The Oprah Magazine that began in March 2002 and was later discontinued. Katz established the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin in 2000, which closed in November 2014.
Katz contributes to Naked Food Magazine and serves on its advisory board. In 2015, Katz published two positive reviews on his Huffington Post blog for a science fiction book he had published under a pseudonym, without disclosing that he was the author; the posts were later retracted by Huffington Post.
Katz was invited by John Ioannidis to participate in a proposed meeting in March 2020 to persuade President Donald Trump not to use lockdown measures during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the meeting did not take place.
Katz is one of the signatories to the Great Barrington Declaration. In 2020, his book How to Eat: All Your Food and Diet Questions Answered, coauthored with food journalist Mark Bittman, will be released.
