Dana Weiss Biography
Dana Weiss is a famous Israeli news correspondent and attorney, She works for Israel’s Channel 12 as their political and diplomatic news correspondent. She used to work for channel 2 before coming to channel 12.
Weiss embarked on her journalism career at Hadashot (“News”) as a reporter and editor until its closure in 1993. She then transitioned to become a legal affairs correspondent and commentator for Israeli Channel 2 news for nearly a decade. From 2002 onward, Weiss hosted various news programs, including “The Bottom Line” and “The Cabinet with Dana Weiss.”
Between 1996 and 1997, she contributed as a correspondent to CNN International’s News Edition. In 2009, Weiss assumed the role of moderator for Israel’s “Meet the Press.” Since May 2013, she has anchored the weekend news, becoming the host of Israel’s most-watched TV news broadcast. Additionally, she has served as the station’s chief political analyst and hosted weekday evening news and other programs.
Weiss has actively engaged in forums and debates such as the Saban Forum at the Brookings Institution, the Israeli-American Council, and The Jerusalem Post Conference. Throughout her career, she has conducted interviews with various Israeli prime ministers, including Yitzhak Rabin and Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as global leaders like US President Bill Clinton and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
She notably broke the news about President Donald Trump’s decision to relocate the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in November 2017, just before the United States officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In June 2019, the Trump administration declined Weiss’s access to an economic summit in Bahrain, prompting Israel’s largest TV station to boycott coverage of the event.
During a televised interview in July 2019, Israeli Minister of Education Rabbi Rafael (Rafi) Peretz expressed openness to ‘conversion therapy’ for LGBTQ community members, sparking controversy both in Israel and worldwide.
