Lucy Aharish Biography

Lucy Aharish is a well-known Israeli news anchor and actress from Dimona, Israel. Lucy is famous for being the first-ever Muslim news reporter on Hebrew-Israeli TV. She currently works for Reshet 13 since 2018.

After her return from Germany, Aharish relocated to Tel Aviv. Her career in media kicked off with a brief stint as an Arab affairs reporter for Yedioth Ahronoth in 2007. In a groundbreaking move, she became the inaugural Arab presenter on Israeli mainstream television after joining Channel 10. Following her departure in 2008 due to professional disagreements, she contributed to Channel 10’s “Erev Tov” and co-hosted a morning radio show with Emmanuel Rosen and Maya Bengal.

She co-hosted Channel One’s late-night show Nivheret ha-Halomot (“The Dream Team”) in 2011, as well as Hamahadura (“The Edition”), a current events program for teenagers.

Aharish’s tenure as an anchor at i24news was turbulent. During Operation Protective Edge, she held an on-air conversation with a Hamas official in Gaza, accusing Hamas of using people as human shields and encouraging Gazans to fight against the Hamas regime.

During the same time period, the station’s CEO, Frank Melloul, was filmed taking the Ice Bucket Challenge, which was criticized in the French press for its timing. Aharish interviewed late Israeli President Shimon Peres in the i24news Jaffa studios.

Aharish was one of twelve Israeli celebrities chosen to light torches in the official event kicking off Israel’s 67th Independence Day celebrations in April 2015. Aharish began co-hosting the daily version of the KAN 11 television program “Culture Agent” alongside Kobi Meidan in March 2020.

According to the Corporation, she was fired from KAN three days later as part of a personnel restructuring relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some believe she was fired because she took part in a protest against Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the pandemic. The same year, she played The Stork in an Israeli version of The Masked Singer.
