Coco Gauff is an American tennis player. She has a career-high ranking of No. 69 in the world and is the youngest player in the Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) top 100. Along with fellow countrywoman and adolescent Caty McNally, she has also won two WTA doubles championships.

Gauff, the rising tennis sensation, hails from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. She was born to parents Corey Gauff and Candi, who both come from Delray Beach, Florida. Coco has two younger siblings, Corey and Cameron.

Her mother, Candi, was not only a track and field athlete at Florida State University but also a teacher. Meanwhile, her father, Corey, was a college basketball player at Georgia State University before pursuing a career in healthcare executive roles. Coco’s parents played pivotal roles in her upbringing and tennis career. Her mother homeschooled her during travel for competitions, drawing upon her teaching skills, while Corey transitioned from his healthcare executive job to become her head coach.

Coco Gauff’s tennis journey began early, and she quickly rose through the ranks. She became the junior world number one and showcased her talent by reaching the semifinals of the prestigious Les Petit As 14-and-under tournament at just 12 years old. At 13, she entered the ITF Junior Circuit, competing in Grade A and Grade 1 events.

Her entry into the professional tennis scene was remarkable. In 2019, she made her debut on the WTA Tour at the Miami Open and received a wildcard entry to Wimbledon’s qualifying round, becoming the youngest player to qualify for the main draw in the tournament’s history.

Coco Gauff gained worldwide recognition when she defeated Venus Williams at Wimbledon in 2019, showcasing her immense potential. Her prowess wasn’t limited to singles; she also secured three doubles championships alongside Caty McNally.
