Anna Kournikova is a former professional tennis player from Russia and an American television personality. Her appearance and celebrity status made her one of the most well-known tennis players in the world. Despite never having won a singles title, she rose to No. 8 in the world in 2000. She is the wife of Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias.
Kournikova’s tennis journey commenced in 1986 at the age of five when she received her first tennis racquet as a New Year’s gift. She took her early steps in the sport at the Spartak Tennis Club under the guidance of her coach, Larissa Preobrazhenskaya.
By the tender age of eight in 1989, Kournikova began participating in junior tournaments, quickly catching the attention of tennis scouts worldwide. At just ten years old, she signed a management contract and relocated to Bradenton, Florida, where she trained at the renowned Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy.

Despite never securing a singles title, Kournikova achieved a world ranking of No. 8 in 2000. Her prowess shone in doubles, where she claimed the top spot in the world rankings multiple times. She triumphed in the Australian Grand Slam in 1999 and 2002, as well as the WTA Championships in 1999 and 2000.
In 2003, Kournikova retired from professional tennis due to severe back and spinal issues, including a herniated disk. She made a few exhibition and doubles appearances for the St. Louis Aces of World Team Tennis until their fold in 2011.
