Kiesch revealed that he was adopted on a post he shared on Mothers Day 2018. The adoption agency he was at said he was a “hard-to-place kid” but his adoptive mother still took him and raised him to who he is today.He graduated from Ohio University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Sport Management.

Kiesch began his journalism career at CBS Affiliate News 2. He then joined NBC Universal as an editor for Today Show. In September 2015, he joined Fox 5 WNYW-TV as a reporter. While at FOX 5, he has covered stories such as the Chelsea terror attacks, the 2016 Presidential elections, and Pope Francis’ visit to America. In 2018 January, Zachary joined ABC News as a correspondent based in New York.
