Abdul-Mateen was cast in the fifth season of Netflix’s science-fiction anthology series Black Mirror in March 2019. Later same year, he starred as Cal Abar/Doctor Manhattan in HBO’s superhero drama miniseries Watchmen, earning him his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Special in September 2020.

Abdul-Mateen recently took on the iconic role of Morpheus in “The Matrix Resurrections.” Stepping onto Broadway, he starred in Suzan-Lori Parks’ play “Topdog/Underdog,” earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Play alongside Corey Hawkins. Additionally, he’s set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ series “Wonder Man,” portraying the titular character.
