Sunny Hostin Biography
Sunny Hostin is an American television host, journalist, and lawyer. Hostin is a co-host on ABC’s morning talk show The View, as well as an ABC News Senior Legal Correspondent and Analyst. She is also the host and executive producer of the true-crime series Truth About Murder, which she co-hosts with Sunny Hostin on Investigation Discovery.
Hostin began her legal career as a law clerk for retiring Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals Robert M. Bell, and she then served as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. Hostin left the Antitrust Division to become a federal prosecutor specializing in child matters offenses.
She began her television career as a Court TV analyst before landing a role on Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor, where she debated with Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly on the show’s “Is It Legal?” segments.
CNN President Jon Klein hired her as a legal commentator for the network’s main morning show, American Morning, in September 2007. In March 2016, ABC News announced Hostin as a Senior Legal Correspondent and commentator.
In 2019, Hostin hosted and executive produced the six-part Investigation Discovery documentary series Truth About Murder With Sunny Hostin, in which she travels across the country to examine the story behind some of the country’s most prominent killings.
She also presented the Have You Seen This Man? podcast, which was produced by ABC. I Am These Truths, Hostin’s book, was released in 2020. Her novel, Summer on the Bluffs, was released the following year. The book will be adapted into a television series. Hostin will also executive produce The Counsel, a drama television series inspired by her life and work.
