Killinger rose to national prominence in 2005 after being selected as one of 16 contestants in the NBC reality series “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” from among tens of thousands of candidates from throughout the country. Martha Stewart put the 16 contestants through a series of tests to assess their many skills, including media, entertainment, design, culinary knowledge, and style, in order to discover the ideal apprentice for her company.
The contestants were separated into two teams and given weekly projects and quests to complete in order to compete for the position of Martha Stewart’s apprentice. Shawn made it to the third week of the show before being fired by Martha Stewart for allegedly saying “Fake it till you make it” while recording the reality show and prepping for a mission.
