Our reporter/anchor for the weekend mornings is Shane Battis, who joined the ABC7 news staff in September 2021. Shane lived in West Texas before moving to the Sunshine State. He spent three years working for KOSA-TV in Odessa, Texas, first as a reporter and later as an anchor, reporter, and producer.

He covered a broad range of stories during his time in the West, including murder investigations, protests, local elections, and catastrophic natural catastrophes. A regional Edward R. Murrow award was given to his team in 2019 for its constant coverage of the Odessa mass shooting.

He graduated from Texas Christian University’s Bob Schieffer School of Journalism with a degree in broadcast journalism. Although he has lived in Texas for a considerable amount of time, before moving to Florida, he spent the majority of his life moving back and forth between Georgia, Southern California, Colorado, Texas, and Utah.
