Greenberg began his career as a sports journalist at WMAQ-AM in Chicago where he was the sports anchor and reporter. He then joined WSCR-Radio as a reporter covering functions such as the World Series and the Super Bowl. He then joined  SportsChannel Chicago as a reporter and later joined CLTV as an anchor, reporter, and host of a live call-in show.

Greenberg then joined ESPN Radio in 1999 as part of the morning drive-time show with Mike Golic as co-host. Their show was named Mike & Mike Show on ESPN2. Greenberg’s last day as co-host of the Mike & Mike show was on 17th November 2017. Trey Wingo, the host of ESPN’s SportsCenter and NFL Live, became the new morning show co-host alongside Golic on November 27th.

The show was renamed from Mike & Mike’s show to Golic and Wingo. Mike joined the new ESPN morning show, Get Up!, on April 2, 2018. He also went back to ESPN Radio to host the new show called Greeny.

Mike has also hosted the game show Duel on ABC. He hosted the show on December 17, 2007, and ended on December 23, 2007. Its second and final season aired on July 30, 2008.
