Barbara Bradley Hagerty Biography
Bradley Hagerty is an American journalist and author working as a contributing writer and editor for The Atlantic. She has previously worked as the religion correspondent for NPR, reporting on the intersection of faith and politics, law, science, and culture for the past 18 years.
Hagerty spent three years traveling throughout Asia. She attended Yale Law School on a one-year Knight Fellowship in 1994, where she obtained a master’s degree in legal studies. She started working for NPR in 1995, covering the US Department of Justice. She and her colleagues shared the Peabody Award and the Overseas Press Club Award for NPR’s coverage of the September 11th attacks.
Hagerty began reporting religion for NPR in 2003. Her religious reporting has earned her two Gracie Awards, a National Headliner Award, and a Religion Newswriters Award. Her reporting was part of NPR’s coverage that earned the network the 2001 George Foster Peabody and Overseas Press Club awards.
She has appeared on the PBS programs Washington Week and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Fingerprints of God, Hagerty’s book, was released in 2009. She released Life Reimagined in 2016. She is a contributing writer for The Atlantic and resides in Washington, D.C.
