Matshela Koko is a South African National who is famously known as the former Eskom Holdings Group Chief Executive (GCE) a state-owned organization that was responsible for over 95% of electricity to South Africa.

As a young and fresh graduate from the university in 1996, he joined GCE as an Engineer-in-Training, stationed at Duvha Power Station. One year later he became an Engineer-in-Training, stationed at Duvha Power Station. Asa systems engineer he was closely involved in the commissioning of the Cooling Water Treatment plant at Majuba Power Station.

In 2020 he was linked to several corrupt activities while at Eskom. It came to the public attention that his stepdaughter had received a tender worth R800 million from the power utility. He was personally involved in price negotiations and sometimes approved contract prices before the submission of proposals.

Immediately after he had graduated from the University of Cape Town in September 1996 Koko joined Eskomo. Initially, he joined the organization as a trainee engineer and his first work-station was the Duvha power plant in Mpumalanga.

In 200 4 years after he had joined the organization rose to double up as a pressure parts engineer and a boiler plant engineer manager. A very hardworking man his efforts began to pay off and in 2004 he became Eskom’s senior manager for the enterprise’s engineering division.

He had been promoted to serve as the senior manager in the generation division by 2009. Later on, he was the senior manager in the generation division after he earned wide international recognition due to his excellent contribution to the engineering sector.
