Marty Bass is a television news reporter and weatherman for CBS affiliate WJZ 13 in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been with WJZ for 35 years and is known for his loud accent and upbeat personality.
He started his career in broadcasting while still in high school, working part-time as a disc jockey at a local radio station in the Louisville, Kentucky area, where he grew up. His interest in broadcasting grew stronger over time.
His first gigs were in radio, but professional journalists urged him to make the leap to television. He listened to their advice and worked in television markets east of the Mississippi before joining the WJZ family in 1977.
