In the 1960s, he worked as an anchor and reporter for local television stations in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Toronto, Vancouver, and British Columbia. He began his career as a newsreader for CTV’s Canada AM in 1973 and went on to work as a producer, reporter, and weekend anchor.
As a CTV reporter, he was recognized for his coverage of the Yom Kippur War. He served as a reporter for CTV National News from 1975 to 1976, and then as the show’s National Affairs Correspondent and substitute host from 1976 to 1979.
Keith began working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1982 as a substitute host and Chief Political Correspondent for The Journal, the network’s weekly current affairs show and stayed with the network for the rest of his career.
In 1986, he went to Los Angeles to work for KNBC-TV as a news anchor at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. He began working for NBC News in 1988 as a west coast correspondent for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show. Morrison covered the 1989 Tiananmen Square demonstrations and went on to provide highly praised hour-long documentaries and magazine parts to different NBC shows while continuing to host KNBC.
