Joshua Johnson is an acclaimed American journalist who currently works as an anchor and host of ”The Week with Joshua Johnson” on MSNBC. Prior to work for MSNBC, he used to serve as the host of 1A, which was distributed by NPR, from 2017 to 2019.
Johnson is a well-established journalist who fell in love with journalism while as a child in the early 1990s. He got inspiration from best-known TV personalities such as Dwight Lauderdale, Ed Bradley, and of course the former CNN anchor Bernard Shaw.
For his desire to became a TV personality, he got enrolled and graduated from the University of Miami and began seeking opportunities in public radio host for a joint project between WLRN and the Miami Herald for almost six years, from 2004 to 2010.
His journey to MSNBC kick-off in 2010, when he was working as a morning newscaster for KQED, an NPR, in San Francisco. After working as a news anchor for six years, he decided to switchgear, being the host of a radio series called Truth Be Told, produced by KQED and distributed by Public Radio International.
Truth Be Told dealt with issues of race in America, and four episodes were aired countrywide. Moreover, Johnson also served as a substitute host of KQED’s Forum and also classes in podcasting at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Besides that, he is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Progressively, before the end of 2016, Joshua got a chance to guest-hosted The Diane Rehm Show for two days. However, Rehm announced Johnson would be taking over her time slot.
Furthermore, he has also been responsible as the host of 1A, which was distributed by NPR, from 2017 through 2019. On December 20, 2019, he left 1A to join MSNBC as an anchor for MSNBC where he also hosts The Week with Joshua Johnson since 2020.
