Jamie Apody Biography

Jamie Apody is an American journalist working as a reporter and anchor for 6abc Action News. She is also a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Jamie began her career as a sports producer at KNBC in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, covering the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2003, she worked as a Sports Director for KDBC-TV in El Paso, Texas. She was selected 2005 “Sportscaster of the Year,” one of their most prestigious sportswriters. Jamie has a strong desire to participate in sports.

Jamie volunteers for several Breast Cancer charities because both her mother and grandmother have had two battles with the disease. She enjoys coming to schools or sports teams to talk about her job and the fantastic things she has experienced in her career when she has time away from being a mother and her journalistic commitments.

She has two favorite memories from her career: the time she dressed up to take batting practice with the Phillies at Spring Training in 2007, and the time she covered the “Phillies 2008 World Series,” which she considers to be the best. She was able to accompany the team throughout the playoffs and was present for the champagne shower at the end.
