Erin Burnett is a well-known CNN news anchor and journalist who presently hosts her own news show, ‘Erin Burnett Outfront.’ She has previously worked as a co-anchor and host on CNBC’s shows Squawk on the Street’ and ‘Street Signs.’
Burnett began her career as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs’ investment banking business. While working at Goldman Sachs, she was approached by CNN and given a position as a writer and booker for CNN’s ‘Moneyline.’ She left the role, however, to become a vice president of Citigroup’s digital media division, CitiMedia.
After leaving CitiMedia, she went to work for Bloomberg Television as an anchor and stock editor. From 2005 until 2011, she hosted CNBC’s ‘Street Signs’ and co-anchored ‘Squawk on the Street’ with Mark Haines.
She conducted an inquiry report on the chemical firm Transammonia, which was conducting business in Iran, in 2010. In her investigation, she stated that Transammonia’s owned company in the United States used to buy ammonia from Iran.
Transammonia was forced to submit a press release to congressional leaders in response to her investigative journalism, claiming that Transammonia’s Swiss company will cancel its contract with Iran and close its operations with them ‘as soon as feasible.’ Her investigative investigation was nominated for an Emmy in 2011.
Burnett left CNBC on May 6, 2011, then on October 3, 2011, he joined CNN, CNBC’s rival news station.
