Cook was in San Francisco’s Mission District covering a tumultuous Occupy march less than a month after arriving at KPIX 5 as the 5 pm co-anchor and night-side reporter, when a protester pushed her and her cameraman. The team got to safety with just moments to spare and filed their story for the 11 pm news.

Cook will complete her 5 pm show for the next couple of years and then immediately hop into a live truck to file breaking stories for the 11 pm news around the Bay Area. In 2013, Elizabeth was promoted with veteran journalist Ken Bastida to co-anchor the 11 pm edition of the channel.

She gravitated towards history and storytelling as a boy growing up in the Los Angeles neighborhood of La Canada Flintridge. Her interest in journalism began when she was a high school senior. Elizabeth interned at ESPN while pursuing her degree in Broadcasting from the prestigious USC Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism and worked on NBC’s The Jane Pauley Show.

She got her first on-air reporting job in Palm Springs after graduating. Before becoming the primary news anchor at KMIR-TV, Elizabeth reported, produced, and worked as a multi-media journalist. While there, she covered two of the deadliest fires in the history of California, President Gerald Ford’s death, and President George W. Bush’s visits.

She is a 10-time Emmy and a two-time winner of Edward R Murrow. She is also the recipient of two awards from NorCal RTNDA. Elizabeth covered the Occupy campaign and the illicit selling and transportation of weapons in Oakland extensively at KPIX 5.

After the 2014 Napa earthquake, she anchored shows from downtown Main Street; at the site of the catastrophic China Basin fire; on the turf at the first home opener at Levi’s Stadium; and inside San Francisco’s Super Bowl City leading up to the 50th anniversary of the big game.
