Andrew Upton is an Australian playwright, screenwriter, and director. He is popularly known as the husband of actress Cate Blanchett. He has customized works by Gorky, Chekov, Ibsen, and others for the Royal National Theatre in London and the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia.

Upton primarily works for The Sydney Theatre Company, where he served as CEO and artistic director alongside Blanchett from 2008 to 2013. He is best known for adapting The Cherry Orchard, The Maids, and Platonov plays. Furthermore, Andrew wrote The Philistines for London’s Royal National Theatre. He wrote his own play, Riflemind, in 2007.
