Alexis Denisof is an American actor. He is well known for portraying Wesley Wyndham-Pryce in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. He is also widely known as the husband to actress Alyson Hannigan.
Denisof began his film career as the fight director for a theatrical version of Hamlet, and in 1991 he was the fight director for the BBC’s The Other Side, Romeo and Juliet, and The Soul’s Dark Night.
His first leading part was as an investigative reporter in the feature film Murder Story (1989), in which he co-starred with Christopher Lee. In 1995, he appeared as one of Arthur’s round table knights in various scenes with Sean Connery and Richard Gere in the film First Knight.
Following those appearances, Denisof appeared in three episodes of Sharpe as Lord John Rossendale with Sean Bean in 1997. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, his most well-known role, originally appeared as Buffy’s replacement Watcher in season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999.
Originally, Wyndam-Pryce was intended to be killed off in the season 3 finale, but owing to Whedon’s amazement at how well he fit into the series, he was given the option of keeping his character alive and elected to keep him alive.
