Alex Stockwell is an American journalist working for Spectrum News as a morning news anchor. She was previously the Weekend Evening Anchor and Reporter for Spectrum News. Before joining Spectrum News, Alex worked for KVEO TV as a Reporter and Multimedia Journalist.
She began her career as a journalist at an NBC affiliate station in McAllen, Texas when several of her articles on the immigration issue were picked up nationally. She then worked as the sports director for Texas Student TV, UT’s student-run television station.
She was also one of the first interns hired by ESPN to work at Longhorn Network, where she eventually worked as a production assistant for their high school football show.
She then relocated back to Central Texas to join the Spectrum News crew in Austin. Alex has covered numerous important events in Austin, including the 2018 Austin bombs, the continuing Rodney Reed case, and multiple reports on Richard Overton, the nation’s oldest living WWII veteran. She began as a fill-in anchor before transitioning to weekends.
