Yasmin Vossoughian is an American award-winning news journalist currently based in New York City and working as a news anchor for MSNBC. She has been mistaken to suffer from a facial paralysis condition called bell’s palsy.
Yasmin was born and raised in New York City by her loving parents Dr. Ahad and Shamsi Vossoughian. She attended Cornwall Central High School then transferred to Northfield Mount Hermon School graduating in the class of 1996. After graduating from high school, she went on to complete her undergrad studies at Occidental College from 1996 to 2000, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in economics and history.
Yasmin worked as a production assistant at E! to begin her career. After that, she started producing for the Style Network. Yasmin earned her first on-air position at the DTV online TV station in Germany at that time.
In addition, She covered news stories for DTV while she was there, including the September 11 attacks and the New York City mayoral elections. Along with conducting red carpet interviews, she also spoke with stars including Salma Hayek, Tom Cruise, Susan Sarandon, and Robin Williams.
She later worked as a correspondent for Current TV, a broadcast and internet network that features user-generated material from all over the world. Yasmin went to Tehran, Iran by herself for her first project at Current in order to make a documentary about the underground youth scene there.
Later, she contributed as a co-producer to MSNBC’s Up With David Gura and filled in as host a number of occasions. She contributed to Morning Joe, too. Yasmin quit Morning Joe in September 2020 and handed the reins to Kasie Hunt.
