She hosted “Oiga Colombia, Revista del Sábado!” from 1972 to 1975, a program directed by Carlos Lemos Simmonds and Fernández de Soto. All of Escobar’s hitmen in the crime, as well as several key witnesses against Santofimio, had been killed, so Vallejo contacted the US Embassy in Bogotá and asked for assistance in saving her life in exchange for information on Pablo Escobar’s associates and the Cali cartel’s brothers Gilberto and Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela. President lvaro Uribe had extradited the brothers, and the trial was set to commence in Miami in a few weeks.
