Shelley Smith is an American sports journalist working for ESPN SportsCenter as a Correspondent. Smith joined ESPN in January 1997 as a full-time correspondent after working part-time for the network since 1993
Smith joined ESPN in January 1997, after previously worked for the network as a part-time reporter in 1993. Smith, a journalist, and author of two books won a Sports Emmy in 1997 for her segment on Magic Johnson in an ESPN documentary about AIDS and Athletes.
She previously worked for Sports Illustrated, Pacific Stars and Stripes in Tokyo, Japan, and The San Francisco Examiner, for which she received a William Randolph Hearst Award in 1986 for her series on Title IX in the Bay Area. Smith has also worked as an Associated Press reporter.
