An Orangeburg, South Carolina native, Shanté Sumpter is a journalist known for working as a Traffic anchor at KING 5 News. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
Sumpter began his professional career as an intern at WACH FOX 57 from August 2015 till December 2015. While there, she used to research, scan wires, and prepare news packets for the daily 10 pm newscast. She was also contributing to Assignment Desk Editors and News Producers with phone calls to assist in the development of stories and also shooting highlights for High School Football.
Shante then joined WTVA where she served two roles. First, she worked as a news. anchor where she produced and anchored weekend newscasts, approved and edits weekend reporter scripts, and also built graphics for the newscasts. On the other hand, she worked as a multimedia journalist where she used to report, shoot, and edited news stories.
She was also enterprising in story ideas and developing contacts and also produced daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet, social networking sites, and mobile phones in addition to television. She joined WTVA in February 2018 and left in January 2019. In addition to that, she also served as a morning reporter where she worked with a photographer to shoot news stories and live shots for a 4-hour show. She then joined KING 5 Media Group as a Traffic Anchor.
