A Burbank, Illinois native, Robin Baumgarten is an award-winning journalist known for working as a news anchor at WGN-TV. She was previously married to Matt Piacente with whom she had two daughters. She is also a graduate of the University of Illinois.
Baumgarten, a three-time Emmy Award winner, co-anchors the WGN Morning News from 6 to 10 a.m. She started as an airborne traffic reporter and transportation reporter for the show in 1996. She became the only host of the 5 a.m. broadcast when WGN Morning News extended to four hours in 2004.
Robin took over as the main anchor of WGN Morning News from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in 2004. When the show grew in popularity in 2013, she expanded her responsibilities to include the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Robin enjoys reporting on stories that are specific to Chicago and the South Side in addition to anchoring.
She began working for WGN-TV in 1996 as an airborne traffic and transportation reporter. She became the solo anchor for the 5 a.m. show in 2004, following the expansion of WGN Morning News, and eventually expanded her role to encompass the 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. hours She now anchors alongside Larry Potash, Paul Konrad, and Pat Tomasulo in the 6-10 a.m. hour.
