Rob Dyrdek is an American entrepreneur, actor, producer, reality TV personality, and former professional skateboarder.
Rob hosts the MTV comedy show Ridiculousness alongside Sterling “Steelo” Brim and Chanel West Coast. The show showcases various viral videos from the Internet, usually involving failed do-it-yourself attempts at stunts, to which Rob and his panelists add mockery and reaction.
He began his skating career at the age of 12 when he was sponsored by the same firm that sponsored Blender. After a few years, Dyrdek and Blender left their board sponsor and founded Alien Workshop. Dyrdek, then 16, opted to forego his final year of high school and relocate to Southern California to pursue his professional skating career. During his post-riding career as an entrepreneur, he would later own the company.
He began riding for Droors Clothing shortly after coming to California, and the company sponsored him from 1995 until 2016. Danny Way, a prominent skateboarder, was involved in the founding of both Droors and DC. He has received sponsorship from Silver Trucks, EA Skate, and Monster Energy.
He is the creator of the Street League Skateboarding skateboarding tournament, which has grown into an international event. For its championship event, which was aired on ESPN in 198 countries, the league gave the highest overall purse in the sport’s history.
In addition, the League collaborated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to create new skate parks in California. His documentary film The Motivation, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, likewise focused on the organization.
