Rick Karle is a handsome and talented American journalist and television host who currently works at WVTM as a co-host of WVTM 13 Morning News in Birmingham. Prior to joining WVTM, he worked as a television sports anchor in Birmingham, Jacksonville, and Hanover.
He has also served on the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, and the Blue-Gray Hall of Fame’s selection committees. Rick has been a Heisman Trophy voter for many years and has been a guest speaker and entertainer at various charitable events.
Rick has appeared on various radio shows, including the Paul Finebaum Radio Network and statewide I-Heart stations, in addition to his television work. He’s also appeared on Greta Van Susteren’s Fox News show and other national sports shows.
He has received over 50 Emmy nominations and over 50 Associated Press honors, including the 2017 Alabama Associated Press “Best Sports Anchor” award and the AP “Best Sports Program” award for “Sideline.”
Karle has also earned six Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards and one Edward R. Murrow National Award for sports reporting (Dateline NBC being the other sports winner that year). Rick is a 24-time Emmy Award winner from the Atlanta Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
