Nancy Grace Wikipedia

Grace worked as a Special Prosecutor for the Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney’s office for nearly a decade. Her career primarily involved felony cases involving serial murder, rape, child molestation, and arson. Grace quit the prosecutor’s office after the District Attorney with whom she had been working opted not to run for re-election.

Grace was chastised by the Georgia Supreme Court for suppressing evidence and making incorrect remarks in a 1997 fire and murder case while working as a prosecutor. Grace’s behavior “demonstrated her contempt for the ideals of due process and fairness and was unforgivable,” according to the court, which reversed the conviction in that instance.

In a 1990 triple murder case, Grace “played fast and loose” with basic ethical principles, including concealing evidence and allowing a police detective to testify falsely under oath, according to a 2005 federal appeals judgment by Judge William H. Pryor, Jr. Despite Grace’s prosecution misconduct, the 1990 murder conviction was upheld.

Grace was approached by Court TV founder Steven Brill after leaving the Fulton County prosecutors’ office, and she accepted his offer to perform a legal commentary show with Johnnie Cochran. Grace was shifted to a solo trial coverage show on Court TV after Cochran departed the show; she presented Trial Heat from 1996 to 2004, then Closing Arguments from 2004 to 2007, replacing Lisa Bloom and James Curtis, who were also hosting Trial Heat at the time.

In addition to her Court TV show, she began anchoring a regular primetime legal commentary show called Nancy Grace on CNN Headline News in February 2005. Grace announced her departure from Court TV on May 9, 2007, in order to devote more time to her CNN Headline News program and charity activities.

Grace has a unique interviewing approach that incorporates verbal queries as well as multimedia statistic presentations. Nancy Grace received two Gracie Awards from the Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television for her Court TV show.

She hosted Swift Justice with Nancy Grace, which premiered on September 13, 2010, and ran until May 2011. Grace left the show due to productions moving from Atlanta to Los Angeles. Judge Jackie Glass, who presided over the O. J. Simpson robbery trial, assumed Grace’s position in September 2011. The show aired for one more season before being cancelled in 2012.

Grace had been following the Casey Anthony case for a long time. On Tuesday, July 5, 2011, the Nancy Grace show on HLN earned its greatest ratings ever in the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. hour slots, following the controversial judgment declaring Casey Anthony not guilty.
