Matt Hines, an award-winning Chief Meteorologist, joined News Channel 25 in December 2007. Matt has spent his whole on-air career in the beautiful state of Texas. He heads a team of meteorologists in Central Texas who employ the most advanced meteorological equipment and have set the bar for forecasting accuracy in the region.

Matt has achieved the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. An examination and on-air evaluation are required for this seal. You must complete continuing education credits and renew the seal every three years after earning it.

Matt was born and raised in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Weather had always been his love since he was a child. One of his earliest recollections of weather is watching his neighbor’s fence fly away as a tornado passed through his area. He knew he was meant to be a meteorologist from then on.

He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock after graduating from high school. He majored in broadcast journalism at Mississippi State University, but transferred his credits to complete the Broadcast Meteorology Program there in 2003. He worked as an intern at KLBK-TV in Lubbock while taking school online. In 2000, he was swiftly promoted to KAMC-TV, their sister station, where he became the weekend meteorologist.
