Borta began her journalism career working at various radio stations before getting her first on-air job at KCEN-TV in Waco. She then joined KRBK-TV where she worked as a reporter for two years. She then joined WTVT-TV in Tampa, Florida where she worked as a news anchor.
In 1995, Borta joined CBS 11 initially as a night co-anchor. She moved to the morning segments in 2014 so as to spend more time with her children during the afternoons and nights.
