John Telich is an American retired journalist from Fox 8 Sports. He has retired from the position of sports director at WJW-TV in Cleveland after 42 years in the station. He has hosted the CAVS pre-game show on Fox Sports Net for seven straight seasons.
John leads Fox 8 Sports during weeknights and produces a range of specials, in addition to its role as a seasoned correspondent on many major events. He also takes on physically demanding tasks, such as flying with the Navy’s Blue Angles.
He also served as the deputy sports director of WIVB TV in Buffalo, New York, before joining WJW as a sports anchor in September 1980. Moreover, Telich is an 11-time Emmy Award winner who has received multiple honors for his coverage of Cleveland sports, both professional and high school.
His features have been recognized by the U.P.I., A.P., and the Cleveland Press Club. In 2007, he was inducted into the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and received the Chuck Heaton Award from the Cleveland Press Club.
He is an avid triathlete who has done over 100 triathlons in the last 27 years, including three Ironman distance races. Telich finished the Burning River 100 Mile Ultra Marathon in slightly over 29 hours in 2012.
