In January 1997, Joe Terrell joined KLTV. He was the anchor of the 5 and 6 newscasts before becoming the News Director. Joe grew up in the Dallas region and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton.
Before moving to the Midwest, he spent almost four years reporting and anchoring for KTAL-TV in Shreveport and Texarkana. Joe spent four years in Evansville, Indiana, on the banks of the Ohio River. Joe anchored and covered many award-winning special reports at WFIE-TV, including the Radio and Television News Directors Association’s “Best News Series” and “Best Spot News Coverage” awards.
Joe was also nominated for a national Oscar in Agriculture for “Best Series Reporting.” Joe produced and covered an award-winning documentary on the Tyler Independent School District bond issue shortly after arriving in Tyler, and he has been named “Best Anchor” by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters three times.
Joe has also won two Emmys as an anchor and managing editor for KLTV 7 Newscasts for “Outstanding Evening Newscast.” Joe is a happily married man with two children, a boy and a girl.
