Stanchfield began her acting career in the theater, and in 2000, she made her television debut in an episode of the CBS crime thriller Diagnosis: Murder. Angel, Monk, American Dreams, Strong Medicine, Without a Trace, Nip/Tuck, Bones, Cold Case, and The Mentalist were among her subsequent television appearances, as were comedy That ’80s Show, It’s All Relative, and How I Met Your Mother.

In feature films, she played the female lead opposite Josh Duhamel in the 2004 version of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, and she co-starred in the comedy-drama Waitress as Nathan Fillion’s character wife (2007). She went on to star in a number of independent films after that.
