Danniella Westbrook is an English actress and television personality. She is well known for her role as Sam Mitchell in the BBC serial opera EastEnders from 1990 to 1993, 1995 to 1996, 1999 to 2000, 2009–2010, and 2016.
Westbrook has hosted several series and was a competitor on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2003. Westbrook skated in the 2010 season of Dancing on Ice with US Pairs Skater Matthew Gonzalez, finishing fourth. In 2013, she played Trudy Ryan in Hollyoaks.
In 2016, she competed in the seventeenth series of Celebrity Big Brother, where she made it to the finals and finished fifth. On February 27, the same year, it was announced that Westbrook will return to EastEnders for a brief cameo alongside on-screen brother Grant (played by Ross Kemp) to mourn the loss of their on-screen mother Peggy (Barbara Windsor).
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Westbrook battled a well-publicized cocaine addiction, which resulted in the full erosion of her nasal septum. She sought help but then relapsed. Westbrook has also written two autobiographies, The Other Side of Nowhere, published in 2006, and Faith, Hope, and Clarity, published in 2013.
