In January 2021, Carissa Lehmkuhl joined the FOX 7 Austin team. She was born and reared in San Diego and graduated from Biola University with a degree in broadcast journalism. She opted to leave California for the first time after working as a producer for Good Morning San Diego and took a job as an anchor/reporter for the ABC affiliate in Tri-Cities, Washington.

Carissa began working as a news intern at WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont, in August 2013. Carissa joined Eagle Vision News as a news producer in August 2013 after spending a month with the station. She was eventually elevated to anchor and executive producer of the station.

Carissa began working for KTLA as a Tech Report intern in Greater Los Angeles in January 2014. Carissa joined KUSI Television as a news reporter for Good Morning San Diego after interning for five months. She was promoted to work as a news producer for Good Morning San Diego after a year.
